American Women of Distinction Poster
Exhibition Pease Public LIbrary, Plymouth NH: June-August 2015 Plaistow Public Library, Plaistow NH: September 2015 The Women’s Caucus for Art/New Hampshire Chapter presented this poster exhibition honoring American Women of Distinction from throughout our nation’s history. This show was first offered in conjunction with the art exhibition FORCE OF NATURE: Exploring the Power of the Feminine, at the Karl Drerup Art Gallery and the Silver Center for the Arts on the Plymouth State University campus, and coincides with the meeting of the National WCA Board of Directors. This women in this exhibition were chosen by New Hampshire artist and teacher Gail Smuda and curated by Marcia Santore. Silver Center for the Arts, Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH: March 3 – April 11, 2014 Curated by Marcia Santore Exploring themes of motherhood from the visceral to the emotional to the intellectual, responding to a society that sentimentalizes mothers but does not always respect them. Four New Hampshire artists—Marcia Santore, Laura Morrison, Patricia Schappler, and Annette Mitchell—reflect how artists who are mothers address concepts of nurturing, biology, connection, family, chaos, fear, and loss. |
