Digital Work
My digital collages combine photographic imagery with original drawing, with colors and textures drawn from my physical paintings, and with digital painting and drawing technique, often with tongue in cheek. Some are purely abstract while others combine recognizable images in a new and unique ways. Some are individual images, while others are parts of series or form the imagery for multipage publications. This page shows samples of different digital series and is not a complete catalog of my digital work.
Art in Fake Rooms
Art in Fake Rooms uses digital combinations of stock photos and my own physical paintings to play with and comment on the phenomenon of displaying real art in digital spaces to give a potential collector the idea of what it would look like on the wall. What started as a typical marketing practice for an artist spun off into playful (and thoughtful) new, unique digital collages that mix up size and other elements to challenge what is real and what is unreal.
Animal Worlds
Animal Worlds combines photos and digital techniques to create almost magical settings for various animals to inhabit.
Twelve Days of Christmas: Images from the perpetual calendar
The Twelve Days of Christmas is a perpetual calendar covering the 12 days of Christmas, beginning with Christmas Day and ending with January 5. It can be used every year, like an Advent calendar. Here are some of the digital collages from this publication. I enjoy how the somewhat frantic nature of the images correspondence to my own frantic wish for the song to be done soon.
Digital Illustrations
Here are a few examples of digital collages created for my children's book "Overheard on a Saltmarsh." See the Books and Illustrations page on this site to learn more about my books and other publications.
